RECYCLED PLASTIC INJECTION MOULDING
All of us have a responsibility to protect the environment. This responsibility is higher when you are in a production sector that uses non-biodegradable products such as plastic. Therefore, moving into the future it is imperative that effort is made to make new components and products as environmentally friendly as possible.
With this in mind, at Protoshape we have invested in educating ourselves in recycled plastics and in machinery to improve our ability to use recycled plastics in our injection moulding process. If the recycled material is handled and processed correctly, the injection moulding process converts the recycled plastic into a brand new product. In many cases you won’t know the difference between virgin versus recycled plastic.
We have experience sourcing a wide range of sustainable options and have also worked closely with our customers to use their own waste. Read our case study on using customer waste to fulfill their own orders below. Using recycled material does sometimes complicate the injection moulding cycle, however, we have gained knowledge in recent years by carrying out trials to maximise the recycled content while maintaining our high standards. If it is possible, we are confident we can incorporate recycled material into your products.
